Welcome to Lab of Alyson Kelvin, PhD. You can find my Biosketch Here. I am a Virologist and Vaccinologist at the Vaccine and Infectious Disease Organization (VIDO) at the University of Saskatchewan in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan. Let’s do some science …
About Dr. ALYSON Kelvin
The Research Program
Emerging viruses are a continual threat to human health. Sometimes these viruses completely change the human infectious disease landscape as they become endemic. The biggest problem facing public health is quick development of viral vaccines to manage emerging virus outbreaks and their transition into endemic pathogens.
The current focus of my research program is understanding how the host responds to infection with emerging respiratory viruses and the subsequent host immune refinement throughout subsequent virus re-exposures or vaccination. Much of my work involves the mechanisms of immune memory related to influenza virus and coronavirus infection. Understanding these mechanisms will be key to the development of the next generation of more efficacious vaccines.
